Session Title: Working With Law Enforcement - How To, Steps to Take

Time:10:00 - 12:00

Overview:
This session will provide participants with ways in which to engage law enforcement in their substance abuse prevention work. Participants will learn how to recruit law enforcement agencies, the do’s and don’ts when working with these agencies and what to expect when working with them. Participants will also have the opportunity to practice their skills during an interactive brainstorm session.

The Presenters:
Maryann Gotreau is currently the State of Maine enforcing Underage Drinking Laws grant coordinator. Maryann leads multiple projects in regards to environmental strategies for substance abuse prevention, including youth advocacy efforts, trainings for police officers and retailers, and school substance abuse policy development. Maryann holds a bachelor's degree from the University of Maine and a Master's degree in Public Policy and Management from the Muskie School of Public Service, University of Southern Maine.

Tom Roth is a 20-year law enforcement veteran currently working as Captain with Westbrook PD, Tom is responsible for supervision of the Patrol and Criminal Investigations Division, writes and administers grants and oversees district-wide training for all Cumberland County Law Enforcement Agencies. Tom holds a bachelor's degree from the University of Maine and a master's degree in Public Policy and Management from the Muskie School of Public Service, University of Southern Maine.
