Session Title: 3A - Social Media for Public Health and Prevention
Overview:
Conference participants will learn about the philosophy of web 2.0, how/if to utilize social media, and creating a social media policy. Participants will receive a basic overview of several popular web 2.0 applications (Facebook, MySpace, YouTube, blogging, Twitter, texting, and more). People who attend the session will see examples of successful and unsuccessful uses of social media for public health. As a result of the presentation, participants will have a better understanding of how/if web 2.0 fits into their program’s outreach and communication plans, and how to begin the process.
