AdCare Educational Institute, Inc. receives the bulk of its funding
from the Massachusetts Department of Public Health. Specifically,
the agency holds a combined contract for statewide trainings, education
with the Bureau of Substance Abuse Services and the Bureau of Family and
Community Health. AdCare also maintains a contract with the HIV/AIDS
Bureau for HIV/AIDS research, training and support services.
To develop training activities, the Institute enlists the assistance of
a variety of organizations, agencies, and personnel to offer advisement on
current trends and needs in the field. Focus groups and planning
committees are held on a program, regional and statewide level. Extensive
data and feedback mechanisms have been established which allow the agency
to continually assess the needs of the substance abuse counselors in this
state.
