AdCare Educational Institute of Maine, Inc. is a private,
non-profit organization located in Augusta,
Maine. The agency works to enhance both service system development and workforce development. It provides services in the areas of prevention, intervention, treatment and recovery for the substance abuse field and other allied public health fields. The Institute accomplishes its mission by providing
education, training, consultation, and technical assistance
to organizations and individuals on substance abuse related public health issues.
AdCare staff have expertise in a wide
range of areas, including policy development, program
planning, and delivery of clinical services. The organization is governed by a Board of Directors made up of
volunteers many of whom are recognized regionally and
nationally for their interest and expertise in the substance
abuse field.
Prevention Services:
Youth Empowerment and Policy Project - a statewide group of youth focusing on program and policy issues regarding underage drinking
Maine Inhalant Abuse Prevention Task Force - a statewide task force formed to identify the nature of the inhalant problem in Maine and recommend model prevention practices designed to reduce inhalant use
Intervention Services:
Student Intervention and Reintegration Services A risk reduction program for youth who have violated school alcohol and drug policies, who are on probation or who are under conditions placed upon them by probation officers or local police
Driver Education and Evaluation Programs - delivery of risk reduction programs for offenders
of Maine's Operating Under the Influence laws
Treatment Services:
Mental Health and Substance Abuse Disaster Preparedness Planning Effort - Staff support for the ongoing strategic planning and staff/volunteer training processes initiated by the ME Department of Behavioral and Developmental Services
Workforce Development Services:
Continuing Education (training calendar) - workshops, conferences, and special support services to organizations that are attempting to provide evidence based practices

New England Institute of Addiction Studies, an
organization guided by the six New England State Alcohol
and Drug Abuse Agencies which is dedicated to the education of professionals, volunteers, and the general public concerning alcohol and drug abuse prevention and treatment issues
The
Addiction Technology Transfer Center of New England,
an organization whose objective is to translate and institutionalize current research and best clinical practice in alcoholism and substance abuse treatment in an effort to promote systems development, improve client outcomes, and increase treatment effectiveness in state and local treatment programs.
