Coalition Partners

The Youth Empowerment and Policy Project (YEPP) has a cooperative partnership with the following community prevention coalitions to modify existing policy or adopt new policy in their communities that will reduce the risk factors associated with 1) easy access to alcohol and other drugs, and 2) perceived laws, rules, or norms favorable to alcohol and other drugs. Research shows that enhanced school, law enforcement and marketing policies on alcohol and other drugs can serve as a protective factor for youth.

Participation in this project benefits the coalitions and surrounding communities in several ways:
They gain access to trained, knowledgeable and motivated youth to work on local prevention efforts.
They can identify a critical policy area (school, law enforcement, marketing) in their community and receive resources to improve that policy.
Through this partnership the group will succeed in reducing some of the major risk factors associated with alcohol and drug use by changing access patterns and youth beliefs regarding community norms that allow use.
